Lumentum (LITE) lifts margin forecast following revenue surge; targets 40% benchmark

Lumentum Holdings Inc. forecasts adjusted operating margin between 39.5% and 40.5% for the current quarter, marking its highest guidance in a release that also showed revenue grew by more than twice compared with the prior period.

Revenue for the fiscal fourth quarter climbed to $1.006 billion, marking a 109.3% increase year-on-year. Adjusted earnings per share advanced to $3.23 from $0.88. Both figures surpassed analyst forecasts, which called for $988 million in revenue and $2.97 in adjusted EPS.

Systems recorded the highest growth, increasing 122.6% from a year earlier and 29.7% from the previous quarter. Components continued to account for nearly two-thirds of sales for the quarter.

Current demand includes 1.6-terabit transceivers, high-power lasers and optical links within racks. CEO Michael Hurlston stated the trend “continues to accelerate as AI demand drives our Q1 revenue guidance midpoint to $1.25 billion.”

The forecast sets a higher bar for this quarter. Midpoint revenue is set to increase by $243.7 million from the prior quarter. Adjusted EPS is projected to grow by 30%, with the operating margin at 40%.
