N-able Shares Climb 9.1% After $95 Million Buyback Equals 11.7% of Market Value

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, August 28, 2026, 11:25 (EDT) – N-able (NABL) shares jumped 9.1% after the software company announced a $95 million share buyback, an amount representing 11.7% of its market capitalisation.

  • By 11:08 EDT, N-able shares were up 9.1% at $4.31.
  • Repurchase capacity rose to $95 million following a $50 million boost.
  • The authorization represents 11.7% of N-able’s present market capitalization.

N-able Inc. (NYSE: NABL) rose 9.1% on Friday after increasing its share buyback authorization by $50 million. Shares last changed hands at $4.31, with volume reaching 1.24 million as of 11:08 EDT.

The surge increased implied equity value by approximately $68 million. N-able’s market capitalisation climbed to nearly $815 million.

The size of the buyback accounts for the response. N-able currently has $95 million at its disposal, representing 11.7% of its market capitalization.

At Friday’s closing price, this capacity could buy back roughly 22 million shares. This equals 11.7% of the 188.9 million shares that were outstanding as of August 5.

The board raised the buyback program from $75 million to $125 million. On June 30, N-able still had $45 million left on the program buyback announcement.

Chief Financial Officer Tim O’Brien described share repurchases at existing levels as an appealing way to allocate capital. The authorization remains open-ended and does not commit the company to make purchases.

Rapid7$13.37down 1.0%$0.91 billion

The rise was significantly steeper than those of listed cybersecurity rivals. Shares of Qualys, Tenable, and Rapid7 each fell in the same session.

N-able reported second-quarter revenue of $138.2 million, representing a 5.9% increase. Annual recurring revenue rose 6.0% to reach $544.5 million company results.

Adjusted EBITDA totaled $39.9 million, resulting in a margin of 28.9%. GAAP operating income increased by 76.8% to $16.5 million.

The balance sheet constrains the reported capacity. As of June 30, cash stood at $115.8 million, while debt amounted to $392.3 million.

N-able made no share buybacks in the first half, with $45 million from the previous program remaining unused before Thursday’s announced increase Form 10-Q.

Risks: Authorization alone does not ensure repurchases will take place. Funds may be directed toward debt repayment, acquisitions, or if recurring-revenue growth weakens, these could take precedence over buybacks.

The following focus will be on how cash is allocated. Investors will scrutinise real purchases, average costs, and observe if ARR growth steadies following the company’s lowered forecast.

Authorization is optional. The strongest signal would be sustained repurchases funded by recurring cash generation.
