SANTA CLARA, California, August 25, 2026, 13:39 EDT — Marvell Technology (MRVL) stock climbed 5% on Tuesday as several analysts raised their price targets for the chipmaker, which is facing a 10.6% earnings hurdle in its upcoming report.

Stock chart for NASDAQ:MRVL

The rise boosted Marvell’s market capitalization by approximately $10.2 billion. That is around 3.8 times the company’s projected quarterly revenue of $2.70 billion. The figure is based on an $11.62 gain per share and 876.93 million shares in circulation.

The comparison highlights the magnitude of anticipation ahead of the report. The options market was expecting a 10.6% swing in either direction following the results. This figure indicates the potential size of the move, without signalling which way it might go.

Susquehanna’s Christopher Rolland increased his price target to $265 from $230, maintaining a Positive rating and pointing to strong AI networking. Rosenblatt analyst Sajal Dogra upped his price target to $300 from $240 and left his Buy rating unchanged.

The $300 price target set by Rosenblatt suggests an equity valuation of roughly $263 billion. That figure stands nearly $52 billion higher than the market capitalization observed on Tuesday. This discrepancy offers minimal margin for an ordinary quarter.

Marvell had earlier projected revenue of $2.70 billion, allowing for a 5% fluctuation either way. The company expected adjusted earnings at $0.93 per share, with a possible variance of five cents. The guidance midpoint indicates a 35% increase in revenue from a year earlier.

Revenue for the first quarter hit an all-time high of $2.418 billion, marking a 28% increase. The adjusted gross margin stood at 58.9%, and operating cash flow came in at $638.8 million. These figures establish the benchmark for Thursday’s assessment.

In May, Chief Executive Matt Murphy stated that Marvell had observed “exceptional AI-related bookings.” He attributed the forecast to 800G and 1.6T optical products, Ethernet switches, and customized accelerator initiatives.

Profit margins are as crucial as revenue. Marvell projected its adjusted gross margin at 58.25% to 59.25%. Robust growth in custom silicon could boost sales but weigh on the overall product mix.

Wall Street’s outlook continues to set a high bar. Analysts project revenue for fiscal 2027 to reach $11.56 billion, a 41% increase, with adjusted earnings at $4.06 per share. The stock, priced at $240.91, is valued at almost 59 times that forecast.

The dangers are evident. Concentration of customers, postponed AI rollouts or a less favourable product mix may limit revenue and margins. Marvell additionally cites supply limitations and deferred customer orders as significant uncertainties.

Marvell is set to report earnings following the close of trading on Thursday. The company’s conference call is scheduled for 16:45 EDT. Market participants will look to measure the latest guidance against the options market’s expectation of a double-digit range.

What decides the reaction

Revenue

A result above the $2.70 billion midpoint must be paired with a stronger forward view to justify Tuesday’s value creation.

Mix and margins

Custom silicon can accelerate sales while diluting gross margin. The 58.25% floor is the clean checkpoint.

AI backlog

Investors need evidence that optical, switching and custom-XPU bookings convert into dated revenue.

Risk: Customer concentration, delayed deployments or a lower-margin mix could leave revenue strong but earnings short. A 10.6% options-implied move means a merely in-line report may still produce a sharp repricing.
