AT&T and Citi Refresh Points Plus Card With New Rewards, Bill Discounts and No Foreign Fees

Dallas, April 21, 2026, 11:40 CDT.

On Monday, AT&T and Citigroup rolled out updates to the AT&T Points Plus World Mastercard, introducing 2x ThankYou Points—Citi’s own rewards currency—on AT&T products and services. Foreign transaction fees are gone, and eligible wireless and internet customers can pick up bill discounts. The card, which doesn’t charge an annual fee, continues to supply up to $240 a year in statement credits for cardholders who meet the monthly spend requirements, directly reducing their bills.

AT&T is rolling out the change while aiming for streamlined billing throughout its consumer segment. Just last month, the company introduced OneConnect—a bundled subscription covering both wireless and home internet—which hints the telecom giant sees the bill as a key lever to lock in customers.

AT&T is turning up the heat on Verizon’s Synchrony-backed Verizon Visa. According to EMARKETER, the update gives AT&T and Citi a stronger shot against Verizon’s card, which pays out 4% in Verizon Dollars—the telecom’s own rewards currency—on groceries, gas, EV charging, restaurants, and Verizon spending, but just 1% back on monthly Verizon bills.

Several headline perks had previously rolled out. The $10-per-line wireless discount and $10 eligible internet discount appeared back in February. What’s new in Monday’s update? Extra rewards now apply to AT&T purchases, there’s no longer a 3% foreign-purchase fee from the original terms, and the requirements for the $20 monthly credit have loosened.

“Customers have told us they want simplicity, value and savings,” said Erin Scarborough, AT&T’s senior vice president of revenue management and commercialization. The new version of the card, she said, aims to cut monthly bills and deliver more value from everyday purchases. Citi

John LaCosta, who leads partnership cards and development for Citi’s U.S. consumer cards, said the update aims to help customers rack up savings and rewards more easily. The only notable tweak is the addition of a fresh AT&T spending category; otherwise, the rewards structure is sticking around: 3 points per dollar on gas and EV charging, 2 points at grocery stores, and 1 point on everything else. Redemption options still cover travel, gift cards, and cash back.

AT&T and Citi rolled out the no-annual-fee card back in November 2022, targeting AT&T wireless users looking for perks. According to the companies, existing cardholders and newcomers alike now get access to the updated benefits.

But those headline savings aren’t without strings. AT&T’s fine print spells it out: to get the full monthly bill discount, customers need to use AutoPay and paperless billing, and must link either a bank account or the AT&T card. There’s also a $20 monthly credit on the table, though that hinges on at least $1,000 in purchases each billing cycle. The card’s variable APR lands between 19.49% and 27.49%, which means anyone carrying a balance could see those perks wiped out by interest.

AT&T hovered at $26.14 around midday Tuesday in U.S. action. Citi slipped roughly 0.2%, landing at $132.78.

  • Investors Pour $15 Billion into Risky Bond ETFs in April Seeking Higher Yields
May 12, 2026, 3:39 PM EDT. In April, investors allocated around $15 billion into credit-sensitive bond ETFs, according to State Street Investment Management data. The inflows were mainly into investment-grade corporate bonds ($7 billion), high-yield bonds ($3.8 billion), and bank loans and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs, $2.5 billion). This surge in demand was driven by easing geopolitical concerns over Iran and strong corporate earnings beyond just Big Tech, boosting risk appetite in fixed income markets. High-yield bond ETFs now offer attractive 30-day SEC yields close to 7%, rewarding investors taking on credit risk. Experts caution balancing these higher-risk assets in portfolios to maintain diversification, emphasizing that these investments complement rather than dominate bond holdings.
