The blockade aims to stop ships entering or leaving the strait, a critical oil transit route, escalating fears of prolonged conflict. Oil prices surged over 7%, with West Texas Intermediate crude surpassing $103 a barrel. The U.S. Central Command confirmed it will begin blocking maritime traffic to and from Iran's ports at 10 a.m. ET. Market analysts viewed the blockade as a negotiation tactic amid lingering geopolitical uncertainties.
