Solar Tech Showdown 2025: N-Type TOPCon vs HJT vs Perovskite Tandem – Which Will Power the Future?
Commercial N-type TOPCon solar cells reach 23–24% efficiency, with JinkoSolar reporting 26.4% in tests. Heterojunction (HJT) cells regularly top 25% in production, and Longi achieved 27.3% in the lab. Perovskite–silicon tandem cells have surpassed 33% lab efficiency, with Oxford PV selling a 24.5% tandem module in September 2024. TOPCon modules now make up about 80% of new cell production.
