Hua Hong Semiconductor’s Shanghai shares fell 3.5% to 135.08 yuan ahead of Tuesday’s open, following a year-long surge of 188%. The drop comes as Beijing tightens rules on high-frequency trading and the U.S. announces new tariffs on European goods, rattling semiconductor sentiment. Mainland investors bought HK$393.2 million of Hua Hong’s H-shares in Hong Kong on Monday via Stock Connect.

  • Boston's Merlin Becomes First Tech Company of 2024 to List on Nasdaq via SPAC

Merlin, a Boston-based autonomous aviation startup, went public on Nasdaq on St. Patrick's Day through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger with Inflection Point. Shares closed Monday at $9.03 under ticker MRLN. The company, which develops technology for reduced-pilot and pilotless flight, recently secured a $105 million U.S. defense contract involving Lockheed Martin's C-130J airlifter. With roughly $200 million in proceeds from the SPAC deal, Merlin plans to double its 200-person workforce and relocate to larger Boston-area facilities. Founder Matt George called the NASDAQ debut a significant milestone for the company and Boston's tech sector.
