Roblox’s Newest Phenomenon ‘Plants vs Brainrots’ Breaks Records – Here’s Why Everyone’s Obsessed

  • Surged to #4 on Roblox: Launched Aug 2025 by “Yo Gurt Studio” (the team behind Grow a Garden Rolimons), Plants vs Brainrots (PvB) quickly exploded in popularity. Rolimon’s tracker shows an all-time peak of 3.2 million concurrent players Rolimons – rivaling only the very biggest Roblox hits. (For comparison, a similar game Steal a Brainrot reportedly reached 15 million concurrent users during a recent event Pcgamer.)
  • Gameplay Fusion: PvB is a simple, addictive blend of “brainrot” collection and tower-defense. Players “buy a seed & plant it in [their] garden”, then their plants automatically attack oncoming “brainrot” monsters while those monsters generate cash Rolimons. As PC Gamer notes, PvB is “another tower defense experience based on Plants vs. Zombies” – except here “brainrots replace zombies” as the enemies Pcgamer. In other words, think Plants vs. Zombies meets Roblox-style idle farming.
  • Weekly Updates and Events: The game’s developers push new content almost every week. A late-September “Bosses Update” (Sept 27) adds huge new boss enemies and admin events. Beebom reports this update brings “massive new bosses, fresh admin events (like a Rainbow event) and several new brainrots, including the rare 67 brainrot” Beebom. These bosses now appear every 500 waves (players see “A Boss Has Spawned!” on wave 500, 1000, etc. Beebom) and drop huge income – the top boss “Dragon Cannelloni” yields over $7.5K per second Beebom. Seasonal “admin events” (light shows, freebies) and special features like a “Rainbow event” (boosting plant luck) keep the game fresh Beebom.
  • Freebies & Codes: To speed new players’ progress, PvB offers promo codes for bonus cash and items. Guides list working codes such as BASED (5000 cash), FROZEN (1x Frost Grenade) and STACKS (1x Lucky Potion) Gamesradar. Players can redeem codes any time via the in-game shop menu. (As PCGamesN notes, these codes mix the familiar redeem-anywhere style of Grow a Garden or Steal a Brainrot Pcgamesn with PvZ-style gameplay.)
  • Part of a Bigger Trend: PvB is just the latest “brainrot” smash on Roblox. The term refers to simple, repetitive collecting games that nevertheless attract huge audiences. Industry writers note PvB “mixes mechanics…from Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot with the much-loved…Plants vs Zombies” Pcgamesn. 2025 has seen other brainrot hits – Steal a Brainrot (by BlackHaze) even spiked to ~15M players Pcgamer – and Grow a Garden (by Jandel) had earlier peaks in the multi-million range. Despite some veteran players deriding this wave, developers know the formula sells: fast rewards, flashy animations and nonstop updates.

How Plants vs Brainrots Works

In PvB, every player farms their own garden. You start with a basic plot and a tiny plant. As the game’s description puts it, you “buy a seed & plant it in your garden”, and then “your plants fight brainrots for you! The brainrots generate money!” Rolimons. Each defeated brainrot drops cash or resources. You use the income to buy stronger plants and gear (for example, gear might double a plant’s damage or speed up attacks). Occasionally special boss brainrots spawn: after every 500 normal kills, a banner appears “A Boss Has Spawned!” Beebom. Defeating a boss yields massive income – even early bosses payout hundreds to thousands of dollars per second. (As one guide lists, Hotspotini Burrito yields $750/s and the highest Dragon Cannelloni yields $7,500+/s Beebom.) Over time, captured brainrots themselves become decorations in your base, passively adding income.

This loop – plant, kill, collect, repeat – is straightforward but surprisingly compelling. It’s reminiscent of classic Plants vs. Zombies, and Gamezebo quips that PvB “might remind you of a particular game, but that one has zombies instead” Gamezebo. The difference is the crayon-colored “brainrot” characters – zombie-ish animals and odd creatures – and the idle tycoon progression. The game even encourages a rebirth mechanic (resetting for permanent cash boosts) to keep players grinding longer. Guides advise building up a strong starter farm quickly, then timing your rebirths when your income hits a certain threshold.

Updates, Events and Codes Keep Players Hooked

The PvB team has committed to constant updates. Almost every weekend brings a new event or content drop. For example, on Sept 27, 2025 the game launched a major “Bosses Update”. According to Beebom, this dropped multiple new gigantic boss enemies and special admin events. One highlighted feature was a “Rainbow Event” that temporarily boosts luck and mutation rates, so savvy players are told to “join Plants vs Brainrots one hour early” to get the bonus Beebom. With each update, new cosmetics, pets, brainrot tiers and codes appear. In the latest update, as mentioned, a new rare brainrot called “#67” debuted.

Promo redeem codes are another ongoing draw. These are easy to claim in-game via the Shop → Rewards → Codes menu. At launch and after big updates, the developers drop new codes on Discord or social media. Fans have compiled lists of codes – for example, the site GamesRadar confirms the current codes BASED, FROZEN and STACKS Gamesradar. Claiming one gives an immediate boost (e.g. 5K cash or special items) to help newcomers catch up. (PCGamesN points out that this code system is just like those for other Roblox hits – you often need to join the official Discord to find new promos Pcgamesn.)

Behind the scenes, the creator (online alias Jandel) remains active. He personally hosts occasional “admin events” where he gives free seeds, pets or gear to anyone online – a practice fans loved in his last game Grow a Garden. Rumors and leaks about future updates circulate constantly in the Discord. All this attention – flashy events, free giveaways and mystery new content – fuels word-of-mouth excitement.

Why It’s a Smash – and What’s Next

Experts say PvB’s success comes down to its simple, satisfying loop and aggressive pacing. As PC Gamer notes, it’s part of a wider “brainrot” craze on Roblox: simple collection games that dole out dopamine at breakneck speed Pcgamer Pcgamer. Kids in particular find these repetitive tasks and colorful animations irresistible. One journalist even admitted she couldn’t “wrap [her] head around” why similar games were popular – until she tried them Pcgamer. PvB combines the familiarity of PvZ tactics with the easy wins of a tycoon, which keeps even novice players engaged.

Compared to its peers, PvB is already a heavyweight. PCGamesN sums it up: it’s basically “Grow a Garden meets Steal a Brainrot, powered by Plants vs ZombiesPcgamesn. (Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot were already in Roblox’s top 10; PvB now joins their ranks.) If Jandel’s aim was to recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle of mid-2025, he’s succeeded spectacularly.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled. Some veteran Roblox fans grumble that brainrot games are “mindless” or that they crowd out more creative titles. But commercially, the numbers speak for themselves. PvB’s 3.2M peak concurrent players Rolimons is unprecedented for a new game, even if some suspect a few bots or region-specific pushes (it’s especially huge in Southeast Asia, per community chatter). For now, the hype machine is in full throttle: YouTubers and streamers are covering every update, and social media is flooded with gameplay clips.

Looking ahead, PvB’s future seems bright (or brainrottingly bright). The developers promise more bosses, plants, and even evolving game modes. As of late September, the community is abuzz with speculation – and ready to grind. Whether the game sustains this mania or eventually plateaus remains to be seen. But one thing’s certain: for the moment, Plants vs Brainrots is Roblox’s hottest party, and everyone (even jaded journalists!) is watching it grow Pcgamer Pcgamer.

April 9, 2026, 10:37 AM EDT. Shares of ServiceNow (NOW), Atlassian (TEAM), and Duolingo (DUOL) hit fresh multi-year lows on Wednesday amid fears that AI advancements could diminish demand for niche software. Atlassian fell 2% to $63.62, revisiting lows last seen in 2018, while Duolingo slid 5.4% to $91.06, off 82% from its May 2023 high. Analysts downgraded price targets for ServiceNow and Duolingo, citing weak earnings and strategic concerns.
