Taipei, Jan 26, 2026, 10:30 (GMT+8) — Regular session
- Shares of Novatek Microelectronics edged up about 1% in early Taipei trading.
- Taiwan’s benchmark index surged beyond 32,000, powered by strong performances from chip giants.
- Investors are focused on Feb. 6, the day Novatek is set to report its 2025 earnings and share January sales figures.
Shares of Taiwan’s Novatek Microelectronics Corp (3034.TW) edged up 1.15% to T$397.5 by 10:22 a.m. local time, swinging between T$388.5 and T$403.5 earlier in the session. The stock notched a second straight day of gains and currently trades at about 13.7 times earnings, a standard valuation measure. 1
Taiwan’s benchmark index surged beyond 32,000 early on, lifted by solid gains in heavyweight tech names such as TSMC and MediaTek. Taipei investors zeroed in on AI plays, prepping for a packed week of U.S. tech earnings. 2
Novatek has an important date on the horizon. The company’s investor-relations calendar shows it will unveil 2025 earnings and hold an investor conference on Feb. 6. That same day, Novatek plans to release its January sales report. 3
Novatek makes display driver integrated circuits—chips that control pixels on screens—used in a variety of large and mid-sized displays across TVs, notebooks, monitors, cameras, tablets, PCs, and automotive screens, according to its product info. 4
Display-driver stocks frequently react sharply to shifts in panel demand and pricing, which can fluctuate quickly as handset makers adjust orders or TV brands launch promotions. This volatility makes the sector a valuable, if unpredictable, gauge for consumer electronics—even as AI servers grab most of the attention.
Analyst Yeh Chun-min of Moore Securities Investment Consulting pointed out the market finds “support at 30,600” and may push up to “32,000-32,500.” He warned, however, that reaching new highs could spark sharper pullbacks. 5
Traders are tracking whether the early gains hold until the close, with Taiwan’s market increasingly reactive to overnight shifts in U.S. tech and updates from top chip and hardware firms.
Novatek risks a broad tech rally masking softer demand underneath. Should consumer electronics stay uneven or price wars intensify for display driver chips, attention will snap back to margins when results come out.
Novatek’s key date is Feb. 6. That’s when it will release 2025 earnings, hold an investor conference, and reveal January sales figures. Before then, U.S. tech earnings this week will draw intense scrutiny, as investors search for clues to either boost or hinder sentiment on Asian chip stocks.
