Bitmine (NYSE:BMNR) share repurchase responsible for bulk of weekly Ether-per-share increase

NEW YORK, July 22, 2026, 10:14 a.m. EDT Bitmine’s latest share buyback accounted for the majority of the weekly gain in Ether-per-share, according to Reuters analysis.

  • The stock gained 4.6%, reaching $18.02 in early trading hours.
  • An internal company figure estimates revaluation accounted for 96% of Ether’s value increase.
  • Ether per share in preliminary figures gained 1.05%, with the buyback contributing nearly 88% of the uptick.

Shares of Bitmine Immersion Technologies, Inc. climbed 4.6% to $18.02 in early Wednesday trade as investors analyzed the company’s recent focus on buybacks in its weekly capital allocation.

The company posted a total of $11.5 billion in crypto, cash, and other investments, reflecting an increase of $200 million from the previous week’s rounded figure. However, the headline did not highlight the key underlying factor.

Bitmine saw its Ether holdings rise in marked value by approximately $354 million. Around $340 million of that increase was due to a higher Ether mark, while an early estimate places the impact of additional tokens at just $14 million.

As a result, revaluation accounted for roughly 96% of the Ether-value rise, while the additional 7,430 Ether made up approximately 4%. The real purchase prices were not revealed.

The division is significant as Bitmine seeks a greater Ether allocation on a per-share basis. The company bought back common shares for approximately $85.9 million last week. As of July 19, recently mined Ether was valued at around $14 million.

The repurchase expense was 6.2 times the projected value of the token. Cash and marketable securities declined by $97 million, reaching $385 million. The statement did not include a complete weekly cash-flow bridge.

The analysis distinguishes between the impacts of price, quantity, and the number of shares:

Listed figures are based on company period-end prices, not actual execution prices disclosed. *Preliminary. The baseline merges July 12 Ether with the July 9 SEC share count. The pro forma estimate presumes full retirement of the 5.5 million repurchased shares with no new shares issued.

Ether per common share was estimated to increase by 1.05% on this basis. Roughly 88% of the modeled increase resulted from a reduced share count, with the majority of the rest attributed to token accumulation.

The share count forecast is significant. Bitmine listed 603.23 million common shares outstanding as of July 9. Issuing more shares after this date would lessen the projected increase.

Chairman Thomas Lee stated, “We view the purchase of our common shares as accretive to shareholder value.” The stock has climbed since then. Shares were up 15.4% from the average buyback price, changing hands at $18.02. PR Newswire

The shift was apparent in the rate of purchases. Weekly Ether accumulation dropped 73% from 27,801 tokens. The most recent acquisition, totaling 7,430 tokens, represented a significant deceleration.

On July 19, Bitmine maintained its holdings at 5.78 million Ether, accounting for 4.8% of the disclosed total supply of 120.7 million. The company’s goal is a 5% stake.

Staking played a key role in the company’s balance-sheet strategy, contributing $45.7 million, which accounted for 98% of revenue in the May quarter. Overall, quarterly revenue reached $46.5 million.

Bitmine had staked 4.92 million Ether, representing 85% of its total holdings. The company anticipated $247 million in annualized revenue from staking, based on a forward projection that applies a seven-day annualized yield of 2.67%.

Risks: Rapid changes in ether’s price could erase recent gains. Staking exposes investors to risks including slashing, lock-up periods and limited liquidity. Reduced yields threaten a revenue stream largely dependent on staking.

Investors are set to monitor if Bitmine continues to prioritize buybacks over distributing tokens. Additional buybacks have the potential to increase Ether per share, but would use up available cash unless funding is sourced from another channel.
