PURR rose 30% for a $128 million boost in U.S. policy premium

NEW YORK, August 21, 2026, 07:28 EDT — U.S. index futures traded ahead of Friday’s market open.

  • PURR’s rally on Wednesday increased its market value by approximately $439 million.
  • The company saw its HYPE holdings rise by about $311 million as a result of the same action.
  • The leftover $128 million represented an initial premium tied to U.S. policy.

Shares of Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. jumped 30.42% on Wednesday following comments from President Donald Trump outlining a regulatory option for the company. The surge increased the firm’s equity value by approximately $439 million, according to Yahoo Finance, which listed its market capitalisation at $1.883 billion at the close.

The core HYPE treasury of the company saw a smaller increase. HYPE gained nearly 17% to reach $73, boosting its value by about $311 million across 29.3 million tokens. The gap stood at approximately $128 million. This early leftover amount reflects what investors paid for a U.S. regulatory option in addition to token beta.

Trump stated that Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Michael Selig is seeking to “bring Hyperliquid into the U.S. in a fully compliant and legal fashion.” The remark was made during a Wednesday White House meeting with cryptocurrency executives. The Wall Street Journal

The policy direction is notable as PURR holds a focused portfolio of digital assets. According to its July 15 registration statement, it had roughly 29.3 million HYPE tokens. The firm identified itself as the largest public holder in the U.S.

On Thursday, PURR gained 7.35% to reach a late price of $10.08, cutting the difference further. HYPE advanced 0.44%, closing at $73.96. According to the company dashboard, there were 29.4 million tokens in circulation and an approximate market capitalization of $2.12 billion early Friday.

The treasury generates additional income through staking. For the quarter ended March 31, PURR disclosed $2.63 million in staking revenue. Net income reached $152.5 million, mainly as a result of an unrealized gain of $198.4 million on HYPE.

Earnings are intentionally volatile. An increase in HYPE’s price may boost reported profits, even if no cash is generated. If the price falls, those gains can quickly disappear.

Targets are 12-month estimates, not guarantees. Upside uses Wednesday’s $9.39 close.

Analyst opinions are divided over the appropriate premium for the wrapper. Cantor’s July price target is nearly twice the closing price on Wednesday, while targets from Chardan and Maxim are closer to where the shares currently trade.

The next step is putting plans into action. Under Selig, the CFTC has advanced an initiative focused on more transparent regulations and fostering domestic innovation. However, investors continue to seek a specific timeline, a defined licensing process, and clarity on the range of products.

Risks: PURR faces vulnerability to HYPE volatility, token holding, staking requirements and potential dilution. Regulatory developments may face delays. The $128 million figure is an early estimate and depends on share numbers and pricing timing.

The main issue on Friday is straightforward. If PURR maintains its premium as HYPE stalls, investors are assigning value to policy access. If both decline simultaneously, token beta remains the main influence.
