SANTA CLARA, California, September 1, 2026, 23:07 (EDT) —
- NVIDIA Corporation NASDAQ:NVDA ended the session at $217.43, slipping 1.52%, with trading volume at 106.94 million shares.
- DLSS 5 is set to debut in NBA 2K27 on September 3 at 21:00 PDT.
- The update provides support for all RTX 50-series desktop and laptop GPUs, as well as GeForce NOW.
- Edge Computing contributed $7.2 billion, accounting for approximately 7.5% of the most recent quarterly revenue.
NVIDIA stock declined 1.52% on Tuesday, ahead of the initial playable launch of DLSS 5. The neural-rendering technology will debut with NBA 2K27 on Thursday NVIDIA launch details.
The launch puts a spotlight on a relatively small yet strategically important contributor to NVIDIA’s earnings. Edge Computing brought in $7.2 billion in the prior quarter, accounting for just 7.5% of overall revenue. The segment covers more than just gaming.

The stock ended up 4.29% above its August 24 close. The trajectory was volatile. Shares surged 8.74% following earnings, only to drop 4.58% the following session historical prices.
The 1.5% drop on Tuesday was part of a wider tech sector downturn. The Nasdaq fell 1.0% as the yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 4.79% AP market report.

NVIDIA posted fiscal second-quarter revenue of $96.221 billion, with Data Center accounting for $89.0 billion. The company’s GAAP gross margin reached 75.0%. quarterly release.
Edge Computing posted a 13% increase from the prior quarter and rose 27% year-on-year. NVIDIA has stopped breaking out gaming results, making it more difficult to determine revenue tied to DLSS.
DLSS 5 launches at 21:00 PDT on September 3. The update is compatible with all RTX 50-series desktop and laptop GPUs, as well as GeForce NOW. NBA 2K27 is the only title available at release.
The platform produces completed lighting and material details using engine data. It operates locally at resolutions up to 4K, as noted in NVIDIA’s September 1 research note. NVIDIA reports that improvements have made it five times faster since March.
NVIDIA’s launch benchmark widens down the stack

NVIDIA says the RTX 5090 achieves as much as 590 frames per second at 1440p resolution. The RTX 5070 posts 260 frames per second. These performance numbers include ray tracing and the complete DLSS suite, rather than only DLSS 5.
Peter Kavic, senior producer at Visual Concepts, described the enhancements to materials and lighting as “a real jump to photorealism.” Visual Concepts developed NBA 2K27 and collaborated with NVIDIA on its integration NVIDIA launch article.
Independent testing is still lacking. NVIDIA released data for a single title. Tom’s Hardware reported the numbers were hard to place in context and pointed out that just high-end cards were given 4K benchmarks launch analysis.
The coming week poses a distinct test. After Thursday’s driver update, reviewers will be able to assess latency, image stability, and frame rates. Broader adoption outside a single sports game will be a key factor for upgrade demand.
NVIDIA projects fiscal third-quarter revenue at $108 billion, with a margin of error of 2%. The company anticipates a gross margin of 74.0%, allowing for a 0.5 percentage point variation. The main limitation on near-term earnings continues to be data-center supply.
Risks: While DLSS 5 could enhance how RTX stands out, it may not generate significant sales. Only one launch title offers data so far. Elevated yields, competition from alternate rendering solutions, and resistance to AI-generated graphics might further limit demand.
The launch serves as a product indicator rather than a reset for earnings. Expanding the lineup of supported games would reinforce NVIDIA’s competitive advantage among consumers. The initial real-world trials are set for Thursday.
