Akamai stock holds near $105 after 10% pop as Fastly’s results jolt the edge trade

New York, Feb 13, 2026, 09:09 ET — Premarket

  • Akamai barely moved ahead of the open, following Thursday’s 10.35% surge.
  • Some traders cited Fastly’s forecast and ongoing chatter about AI-fueled traffic as key signals.
  • Akamai’s results and outlook land on Feb. 19. That’s next up.

Akamai Technologies Inc barely moved ahead of the bell Friday, following a sharp 10.35% jump the previous session that left shares at $104.61.

Akamai landed right back in the thick of the “edge” trade on Thursday, as investors weighed just how strong demand for content delivery and security could be by 2026. The company operates a content delivery network (CDN)—essentially, the infrastructure that stores data near users for quicker website and app access—alongside a lineup of security and cloud offerings.

Fastly lit things up after posting a Q4 beat and projecting higher revenue and profits for this quarter. William Blair’s Jonathan Ho described it as a “stellar quarter” in his note, pointing to “agentic AI traffic” as the key driver, according to Investors.com. Investors

Why it matters now: With Akamai’s fourth-quarter and full-year earnings set for Feb. 19, investors are grabbing at whatever sector clues show up ahead of those numbers. The company’s investor call is slated to kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Feb. 12 turned volatile for Akamai, with shares swinging from $98.75 to $106.80 before closing out the day on a surge in volume—roughly 10.6 million shares changed hands, according to stockanalysis.com.

Analysts expect earnings to come in around $1.75 a share on revenue somewhere near $1.08 billion, according to a consensus cited by Nasdaq.com.

Investors are eyeing security and compute growth to see if they’ll keep balancing out the drag from legacy delivery products. Management’s guidance will need to justify Thursday’s repricing. Any margin move—up or down—will hit hard.

The Fastly read-through might turn out to be a shaky signal. Akamai’s customer base isn’t the same, and a one-quarter outlook can jolt shares across the group—Cloudflare and Fastly are already tussling for the same spending.
