Synectics Extends Five-Year Stagecoach CCTV Framework as OptiBiotix Advances SweetBiotix Enzymatic Process

Synectics plc has signed a five-year extension to its framework agreement with Stagecoach, continuing a partnership that began in 2003. Ocular Integration, Synectics’ systems arm, will supply and install cloud-connected CCTV on new Stagecoach buses. The technology enables live fleet tracking, incident management, and collaborative investigations. Earlier this year, Synectics secured a £1.1m contract to pilot its “On-Board Hub” platform.

  • Sugar Prices Decline After USDA Projects India Sugar Surplus for 2026/27

Sugar prices fell on Thursday as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecast a 2.5 million metric ton surplus in India's 2026/27 sugar output, the first surplus in two years. India, the world's second-largest sugar producer, prompted a selloff after initial gains. Prices initially rose supported by soaring gasoline prices, which boost ethanol demand and lead Brazilian mills to shift more cane crushing towards ethanol production, lowering sugar output. Brazil's Center-South region reported an 11.9% year-on-year drop in sugar production for the first half of April. Meanwhile, the USDA forecast Brazil's 2026/27 sugar output to decline 3%. Global sugar supplies appear tightening, with analysts cutting surplus projections, but abundant supplies and weak demand continue to pressure prices.

Capital One $425 Million Settlement: Who Gets Cash and When Checks Arrive

A federal judge approved Capital One’s $425 million settlement over 360 Savings accounts, setting automatic payments to eligible customers for around July 27 if no appeal is filed. Payments will reflect the extra interest customers would have earned at higher rates, minus fees and costs. The case does not cover credit cards. Customers do not need to file claims unless they opted out of electronic payment.
