Five Mitchell’s Plain schools are competing to collect the most PET bottles and cartons in a recycling contest run by Petco. The top school will win up to R50,000 for facility upgrades. Pupils sort waste into colour-coded bins and compost food scraps, with materials collected by Regenize. The competition launched in August with performances by DJ GrandMaster Ready D and his youth crew.
