  • Wheat Futures Rise on Export Data and Crop Estimates
    March 20, 2026, 3:09 AM EDT. Wheat futures climbed on Thursday with Chicago SRW rising up to 5.75 cents and Minnesota spring wheat gaining up to 6.5 cents. Export sales data showed 189,887 metric tons (MT) of old crop wheat sold in the week ending March 12, down 58% but above last year's levels. Mexico was the top buyer at 153,100 MT. New crop sales unexpectedly reached 212,059 MT, surpassing forecasts but still down nearly 57% from last year. Taiwan bought 105,025 MT in a recent tender. SovEcon raised its forecast for Russia's 2026 wheat crop to 87.6 million MT, while the International Grains Council lifted 2025/26 global wheat production estimates to 845 million MT. Prices ended higher with May 26 CBOT wheat at $6.08 per bushel, reflecting ongoing market strength fueled by export data and crop outlooks.
