Race to Drive on the Moon: Inside the Battle for NASA’s Artemis Lunar Rover Contract
NASA’s $4.6 billion Lunar Terrain Vehicle contract has drawn bids from three teams: Lunar Outpost with Lockheed Martin, Intuitive Machines with Boeing, and Venturi Astrolab with Axiom Space. The winning rover will transport Artemis astronauts at the lunar south pole starting with Artemis V in 2029. Prototypes must endure extreme cold, rough terrain, and operate autonomously between missions.
