Silver’s India rally drives buyers to coins as jewellery demand cools
Silver futures on India’s MCX surged to 240,935 rupees per kilogram by Friday, up from 208,439 rupees on Dec. 19, Aaj Tak reported. Benchmark silver rates hit records, with IBJA’s price closing at 228,107 rupees per kilogram. In Shahjahanpur, silver jewellery sales dropped by up to 50% as buyers shifted to coins and bars, according to Amar Ujala. Gold prices also rose sharply over the same period.
