MACOM (MTSI) stock in focus as Stifel lifts target and proxy lays out March shareholder vote

New York, Jan 17, 2026, 20:14 EST — The market has closed.

  • Stifel boosted its price target on MACOM while maintaining a buy rating.
  • A new proxy filing outlined MACOM’s annual meeting agenda, featuring a vote on executive compensation.
  • U.S. stock markets will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, extending the break before trading resumes.

Shares of MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc ended Friday up 0.8% at $220.68 and climbed another 1.9% to $224.89 in after-hours trading. The chipmaker drew attention following fresh analyst coverage and the release of a new proxy filing.

Timing plays a role here. U.S. markets will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so trading resumes Tuesday. That gives investors extra time to digest fresh research notes and corporate filings.

Stifel bumped its price target on MACOM up to $215 from $185 and kept a buy rating, reports said Friday. The firm also highlighted stronger AI infrastructure spending and better demand trends for analog chips in its wider look at analog, connectivity, and processor stocks.

The target remains under last week’s closing price. MACOM reached a peak of $225.34 on Friday, hovering near the upper end of its recent trading range, limiting how much analysts’ upgrades can boost the stock on their own.

MACOM’s annual meeting will take place March 5 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, according to a definitive proxy statement filed Friday. Shareholders will vote on three key issues: electing eight directors, an advisory vote on executive compensation, and ratifying Deloitte & Touche as auditor for the fiscal year ending Oct. 2, 2026. Included in the filing was a letter from general counsel Ambra R. Roth emphasizing, “Your vote is very important.” MACOM Technology

The filing revealed CEO Stephen Daly’s total pay hit $10.1 million for fiscal 2025, up from roughly $6.0 million the previous year. It also showed the CEO-to-median employee pay ratio came in at about 89-to-1. The proxy mentioned Bryan Ingram joined the board in January 2026 but wasn’t included in the 2025 director pay figures.

The executive-pay vote is advisory and doesn’t directly determine compensation. Still, a poor “say-on-pay” result can push boards to clarify their rationale or alter the way they design awards.

Traders face a straightforward dilemma: will the stock maintain its gains once the market reopens, or will it pull back after surging past at least one freshly raised target?

There’s a downside risk, too. Stocks trading near recent peaks can quickly sell off if there’s any sign that demand forecasts are too bullish or if investors start shying away from chip-related risk.

MACOM develops and produces semiconductor products for telecommunications, industrial and defense, and data center sectors — industries known for rapid shifts in investor sentiment tied to capex decisions and buying patterns.

Trading picks up Tuesday, and all eyes will be on whether MACOM’s bid sticks after the extended weekend. Mark March 5 on your calendar—that’s when shareholders cast votes on directors and executive pay at the annual meeting.
