- NuScale ended regular trading at $9.27, a drop of 5.50%. Shares then rose 1.02% in after-hours activity.
- The nuclear AI pilot reduced the time needed to retrieve technical information by up to 80%.
- Revenue for the second quarter totaled $75,000, and research and development expenses amounted to $18.4 million.
Shares of NuScale Power Corporation NYSE:SMR dropped 5.50% on Wednesday. The decline pulled back nearly all of the previous session’s AI-driven increase. The move also underscored a significant valuation challenge: accelerated engineering has not yet translated into customer revenue.
The shares ended the session at $9.27, moving within a range of $9.06 to $10.26. Trading volume totaled 51.88 million shares, approximately 1.35 times the stock’s recent average. After-hours, the price was up 1.02% at $9.36 as of 19:59 EDT market data.
NuScale is rolling out Nuclearn’s AtomAssist platform, working with NPX for implementation. The system locates engineering documents, licensing data and technical standards. According to a proof of concept, retrieval times were cut by up to 80% company release.
Chief Technology Officer José Reyes stated that the tools are intended to boost team efficiency. He also emphasized the importance of safety and quality standards. NuScale did not reveal contract value, licensing fees or anticipated cost savings.
The omission is significant. R&D expenses increased by 56% in the second quarter to $18.4 million. Revenue dropped 99% to $75,000 as previous Romanian engineering projects concluded. The operating loss expanded 49% to $64.0 million quarterly financial statements.
| Company | Aug. 26 close | Daily move | Revenue signal |
|---|---|---|---|

| BWX Technologies NYSE:BWXT | $153.16 | +2.29% | $3.51 billion in historical sales |
The price chart reflects the market’s uncertainty after the announcement. Shares rose 76 cents on Tuesday, increasing quoted value by roughly $327 million. On Wednesday, a 54-cent drop erased about $232 million. These figures are based on 429.72 million shares outstanding.
Shares of early-stage reactor companies declined on Wednesday. Oklo was down 6.03%, and NANO Nuclear slipped 3.85%. BWX Technologies, a profitable nuclear supplier, advanced 2.29% following its latest reactor contract with the U.S. Army Oklo data; NANO Nuclear data; BWXT data.
Wall Street analysts are split. FactSet reports six Buys, nine Holds, and two Sells. The consensus target stands at $12.59, with forecasts ranging from $6 to $20 WSJ/FactSet.
NuScale has gained time thanks to its liquidity. As of June 30, cash and investments amounted to approximately $1.9 billion. The company’s operating cash outflow for the first half came to $372.9 million, which included a significant draw on working capital. During that timeframe, issuing stock provided $984.5 million.
The upcoming material test will be conducted on a commercial basis. NuScale and ENTRA1 are in talks with the Tennessee Valley Authority regarding a potential definitive power-purchase agreement. Additionally, the firm is pursuing progress on a six-module project in Romania; however, as noted in its second-quarter update, neither effort is currently generating binding revenue from reactor delivery.
Risks: The AI output originated with a preliminary proof of concept. Retrieval times may not accelerate licensing or construction timelines. Significant risks include customer financing, regulatory approval, supply limitations, and potential further dilution.
For investors, an 80% increase in search speed is helpful but not sufficient by itself. A lasting revaluation requires verifiable cost reductions, secured contracts or reported revenue. The drop on Wednesday reflected this difference.
