Investor concerns focus on cash quality. PowerCo, Volkswagen AG’s ETR:VOW3 battery division, switched from cost reimbursement to milestone-based payments. Total maximum program payments dropped to $75.4 million, counting amounts disbursed so far.
This limits the usefulness of billings by themselves. Customer billings represent invoices—distinct from GAAP revenue—and fluctuate based on project progress.
Billings for the first half totaled $21.8 million, compared with $19.5 million in the full year 2025. The company reported billings of $10.8 million for the second quarter, pointing to $11.0 million for the first quarter and a 1.8% decrease quarter-on-quarter.
The revised contract alters both the sum and the schedule.

| Payment basis | Reimbursement of costs | Milestones for cell delivery and validation |
