T-Mobile stock price near $186: what to watch before Monday as Fed week hits TMUS

New York, Jan 25, 2026, 2:48 PM ET — Market closed

T-Mobile US (TMUS.O) shares closed Friday at $186.03, rising 0.35%, and stayed mostly steady in after-hours trading following the 4 p.m. close. During the session, the stock fluctuated between $183.90 and $186.94.

The stock enters a week that could be shaped by shifting rate expectations and telecom earnings. The Federal Reserve meets Jan. 27-28, wrapping up with a rate announcement and press conference on Wednesday.

After a volatile stretch of headlines, investors are refocusing on earnings and the Fed. “It’s been a little bit of a short but steep roller-coaster ride over the past several days,” said Yung-Yu Ma, chief investment strategist at PNC Financial Services Group. Chris Galipeau of Franklin Templeton pointed to earnings as the main catalyst. Reuters

Friday saw the S&P 500 inch up 0.1%, the Dow fall 0.6%, and the Nasdaq rise 0.3%, wrapping up a choppy week with slight declines across the main indexes.

In telecom, investors can expect early signals ahead of T-Mobile’s report. AT&T (T.N) is scheduled to unveil its fourth-quarter results on Wednesday, Jan. 28, followed by Verizon (VZ.N) on Friday, Jan. 30.

T-Mobile is gearing up for a key event on Feb. 11, when it will release its fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results, paired with a capital markets day update. This session, where firms typically share their long-term goals, will feature CEO Srini Gopalan and the leadership team unveiling fresh financial targets for 2026 and 2027. The presentation kicks off at 8:30 a.m. ET.

T-Mobile announced that its T-Mobile USA unit will redeem $3 billion of its 4.750% senior notes due 2028 on Feb. 1, 2026. The company plans to pay 100% of principal plus accrued interest. Deutsche Telekom holds $1.5 billion of these notes, T-Mobile confirmed.

The stock’s focus remains steady: customer growth, pricing, margins, and cash generation. Traders want to see if the major carriers are holding firm on promotions and keeping spending aligned with cash returns.

Yet, any move in rates following the Fed or an intensified price war in the sector might tighten valuations and weigh on profit forecasts. Plus, disappointing subscriber numbers from competitors this week could ripple into T-Mobile’s results.

The calendar is loaded: the Fed’s decision lands on Jan. 28, AT&T reports earnings that same morning, followed by Verizon on Jan. 30. T-Mobile’s update arrives on Feb. 11.

  • AI May Boost Job Growth, Not Cut It, Says LPL Financial Economist
May 21, 2026, 2:37 PM EDT. LPL Financial Chief Economist Jeffrey Roach argues that artificial intelligence (AI) could increase job opportunities, countering fears of mass displacement. Citing the Jevons paradox - where improvements in efficiency can raise demand - Roach explains that AI's ability to lower costs and increase productivity can lead to expanded workloads and new roles. For example, in medical diagnostic imaging, AI has spurred more hiring by reducing service costs. Additionally, AI might help offset labor shortages caused by an aging population, potentially enhancing worker productivity amid a shrinking workforce projected by 2050 and 2070. This perspective suggests AI will reallocate rather than replace human labor, supporting economic growth.
