AMD Stock (NASDAQ:AMD) Faces AI Event Test After Estimated $101 Billion Weekly Reset

NEW YORK, July 19, 2026, 11:06 EDT — U.S. cash markets are closed Sunday.

  • AMD closed Friday at $495.76, down 11.1% from the prior Friday.
  • Preliminary estimate: the weekly move erased about $101 billion in equity value.
  • AMD’s Advancing AI event runs July 22-23 in San Francisco.

AMD enters its AI-event week after shedding an estimated $101 billion in equity value. The preliminary calculation uses 1.63 billion shares outstanding. Its stock fell 11.1% from Friday to Friday.

The erased value equals about nine times AMD’s quarterly revenue guide. That comparison is not a valuation multiple. It measures the scale of last week’s reset.

The broader chip sector also broke lower. The PHLX Semiconductor Index lost about 10% last week. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.9%.

AMD’s weekly return uses July 10 and July 17 closes. Its drawdown uses the June 30 record close of $580.91.

AMD remains outside bear-market territory. Friday’s close was 14.7% below its June record. The chip index has crossed the 20% threshold.

Expectations remain high. AMD’s trailing price-earnings ratio stood near 163 after Friday’s trading. Its market value remained above $800 billion.

Advancing AI runs Wednesday and Thursday in San Francisco. Chief Executive Lisa Su’s keynote begins Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Pacific. AMD says the event will cover infrastructure, architecture and deployment.

Jefferies Financial Group analyst Blayne Curtis placed customer announcements near the event’s center. He also expects GPU and networking updates. His reported focus was deal economics, not simply headlines.

The event comes before hard numbers. AMD reports second-quarter results on August 4. It guided revenue to $11.2 billion, plus or minus $300 million.

The midpoint represents about 46% annual growth. AMD also expects a 56% non-GAAP gross margin. Investors can compare event claims against those targets.

First-quarter revenue reached $10.3 billion. Su said Data Center was “the primary driver of our revenue and earnings growth.” The segment therefore frames this week’s investor test. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya called the selloff “a summer reset, not a fundamental reversal.” Fund flows showed caution. U.S. equity funds lost $4.8 billion through July 15, while growth funds lost $7.18 billion. MarketWatch

Intel reports after Thursday’s market close. Its server and PC commentary will offer another demand check. The timing puts both CPU rivals in focus within hours.

Risks: Renewed chip selling could overwhelm a strong event. Export rules, memory availability, foundry capacity and customer concentration can also alter AMD’s revenue timing.

The next company-specific signal arrives Thursday morning. Investors will watch for named deployments, expected volumes and commercial terms. AMD’s formal financial test follows on August 4.
