Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) shares rise 3.6% on dividend strength as analyst forecasts remain unchanged

NEW YORK, July 19, 2026, 12:06 EDT – Pfizer advanced 3.6%, with the movement attributed to dividend appeal, while consensus estimates showed no shift.

Pfizer Inc. rose 3.6% last week, outperforming the S&P 500 by 5.2 percentage points. Shares finished Friday at $25.05.

The stronger performance is notable given that projected earnings have not increased. Analysts now expect $2.94 for 2026, a decrease of two cents from three months ago.

Pfizer ended Friday with a price-to-estimate ratio of 8.5. The company’s $1.72 annualized dividend translates to a 6.9% yield.

The figures indicate a shift driven by income rather than an adjustment in earnings. Average volume climbed to 44.7 million shares, 9.7% higher than the 65-day average.

Leading pharmaceutical firms gained even as the overall market declined. Week-on-week closing data highlights the trend.

Bristol Myers was the top performer in the group. Merck and AbbVie both climbed, whereas Lilly declined. The gap suggests Pfizer’s advance may be partly defensive.

The most recent company update concerns a supply issue in India. Pfizer suspended its Premarin vaginal cream in the market, referring to “certain supply challenges.” Reuters

The product earned $2.76 million in India over the year ending in June. Based on Pfizer’s guidance midpoint, this accounts for about 0.005% of yearly revenue.

The disruption impacts patients, but has minimal effect on group sales. As a result, it provides limited justification for the equity shift.

A key development came on July 10, when the FDA broadened the use of Padcev combined with Keytruda for muscle-invasive bladder cancer treatment. The therapy involves Pfizer, Astellas Pharma (TYO:4503), and Merck.

Phase 3 results indicated a 47% lower rate of recurrence, progression or death. Risk of mortality decreased by 35% compared with standard treatment.

Aamir Malik, Pfizer’s chief of U.S. commercial operations, described the development as “a historic turning point.” Nonetheless, the unaltered second-quarter forecast indicates limited immediate impact on earnings. Pfizer

The U.S. cash market will remain shut on Sunday. Core trading at the NYSE will restart on Monday at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

Pfizer shares will trade ex-dividend on Friday, July 24, for a payout of 43 cents. The company is not expected to release an earnings report this week. Second-quarter earnings are set to be reported on August 4.

Risks: Pfizer projects a $1.5 billion decline in COVID-19 revenue and anticipates a $1.5 billion exclusivity loss in 2026. The outlook for yields may be affected if clinical trials disappoint or if oncology adoption lags.
