New Era Energy & Digital (NASDAQ:NUAI) surges 26%, mirroring April capital increase

NEW YORK, July 20, 2026, 16:10 EDT

  • In preliminary delayed trading, shares climbed approximately 26.1% to $5.14.
  • The projected single-day increase in equity value was about $108 million.
  • Rallies supported by contracts at two rival firms boosted the broader AI infrastructure sector.

Shares of New Era Energy & Digital climbed approximately 26.1% to $5.14 on Monday, based on preliminary delayed data. Nasdaq’s regular session had ended. The Nasdaq Composite finished little changed.

According to an initial estimate, Monday’s gain increased equity value by approximately $108 million, based on 101.29 million shares disclosed most recently, with a $1.065 rise.

This equaled the net proceeds of $107.4 million generated by the share sale in April. In that offering, 34.33 million shares were sold at a price of $3.35 per share.

The projected single-session increase corresponded to roughly 134 times New Era’s first-quarter revenue. The company posted $802,353, entirely from natural gas and product sales.

The company did not provide an explanation for the move in any statement released on Monday. As of now, New Era’s investor page continues to display July 9 as its most recent update. That announcement addressed a legal settlement rather than a tenant agreement.

The difference compared to peers was striking.

CompanyMonday moveSame-day disclosure
New Era Energy & Digital+26.1%No statement issued Monday; most recent update remains July 9
IREN Limited +19.9%$2.8 billion in new AI-cloud deals; raised end-of-year run-rate guidance to above $4 billion
Hut 8 Corp. +9.8%$9.8 billion, 15-year agreement for 352 megawatts of capacity

Preliminary delayed prices close to the regular session end.

IREN increased its year-end annualized run-rate revenue goal to over $4 billion, with roughly 85% of that total already secured by contracts, the company stated.

Hut 8’s new lease boosted its contracted Beacon Point capacity to 704 megawatts. CEO Asher Genoot stated, “The real test of our power-first approach is what our partners are willing to commit against it.”

New Era is still in its early stages. The company reported a net loss of $8.99 million for the first quarter. Cash used in operating activities totalled $6.40 million.

New Era’s proposed Permian Basin facility spans 492 acres, the company says. Capacity is projected to reach 1.4 gigawatts in the future, according to company statements.

CEO Charlie Nelson stated on July 1 that moving forward into the next phase “requires disciplined execution.” No data-center revenue was reported for the most recent quarter. New Era Energy & Digital, Inc.

Shares declined 8.0% over the week ending July 17. Monday’s recovery brought them 16.0% higher than where they closed on July 10. Trading volume was 2.7 times the daily average from last week.

Investors are set to monitor an unsecured note worth $3.35 million this week. The note reached maturity on Monday, requiring full payment of principal and interest.

A different loan condition introduces an additional cut-off. A lease agreement needs to be finalized within six months of April 8. Failure to do so could allow the lender to require a prepayment or switch to monthly payments.

Risks are still significant. New Era disclosed significant uncertainty over its ability to remain a going concern. The project continues to depend on securing major external financing and an occupant.

Monday’s surge increased the valuation for New Era’s proposed capacity. The next hurdle is tangible: finalized tenant contracts and secured funding for construction.
