BitMine Shares Drop 7.1% With $14.4 Billion Valuation, Crypto Holdings Reach $14.9 Billion

NORWALK, Connecticut, August 29, 2026, 10:50 (EDT). BitMine’s stock slid 7.1%, as the company’s market value stood at $14.4 billion while its cryptocurrency assets grew to $14.9 billion.

  • BitMine ended Friday at $23.80, falling 7.14%, with 51.59 million shares traded.
  • The company has a market capitalization of $14.36 billion, slightly under its self-reported gross holdings of $14.9 billion.
  • A $100 fluctuation in Ether shifts the gross value of BitMine’s ETH position by approximately $585 million.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BMNR) dropped 7.14% on Friday, wiping out around $1.1 billion in market capitalization. Trading volume was close to $1.23 billion, representing 8.6% of the company’s outstanding shares Friday market data.

The drop brought BitMine’s market capitalization down to $14.36 billion. This figure is roughly 0.96 of the $14.9 billion in crypto, cash, marketable securities and private investments the company reported on August 24.

The comparison provides insight, though it does not represent net asset value. The figure reported by the company is gross, factoring in volatile tokens and private assets. It omits deductions for liabilities, taxes or liquidity expenses.

Ether ended Friday at around $2,443, a drop of 2.70%. Shares in BitMine saw a steeper decline, illustrating how exposure to equities can intensify changes in token prices. A $100 swing in Ether results in a $585 million move for its 5.85 million-token holding.

The catalyst was widespread de-risking following remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, who highlighted ongoing inflation pressures. Yields on two-year Treasuries climbed 11.8 basis points to 4.348%, with the probability of a rate hike moving higher market close recap.

BitMine disclosed holdings of 5,847,611 ETH as of August 23. The company also owned 210 Bitcoin, $308 million in cash and marketable securities, and had interests in Beast Industries as well as Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: ORBS) company release.

Roughly 5.07 million ETH, representing 87% of the total, has been staked. Management estimated annualized staking revenue at $330 million with the current amount deployed. This figure amounts to just 2.3% of the market value as of Friday.

The operating base is still limited compared to the treasury. Fiscal third-quarter revenue totaled $46.5 million, with 98% coming from staking and validation. The net loss for the quarter was $83.6 million.

Cash produced is still below capital requirements. Operating cash outflow for nine months reached $287.6 million. Proceeds from financing activities totaled $12.22 billion, underlining the company’s reliance on capital markets May 31 Form 10-Q.

Few analysts follow the stock. MarketWatch displays just two ratings, which is not enough to form a reliable consensus. Short interest stands at 8.0%, contributing to the stock’s volatility.

Risks: The balance sheet is predominantly weighted toward Ether. Assets that are staked may experience withdrawal delays, risk of slashing, custody issues, or protocol adjustments. Issuing more equity can reduce per-share exposure through dilution.

The next challenge starts as U.S. markets reopen Monday at 9:30 EDT. Investors plan to evaluate BMNR against Ether’s weekend performance and monitor the Federal Reserve meeting on September 15–16 for signals on interest rates.

Investor read-through

The shares now trade near the company’s reported gross asset figure, but gross holdings are not NAV. Private stakes, taxes, liabilities, custody costs and staked-asset liquidity can widen the gap. Thin analyst coverage—only two listed ratings—also limits the usefulness of consensus targets.
