  • Lean Hog Futures End Mixed as Pork Prices Strengthen, Slaughter Numbers Up
    June 29, 2026, 8:55 PM EDT. Lean hog futures closed mixed Monday. Nearby contracts picked up 70 to 90 cents but deferred months slipped as much as $1.30 with traders wary. There was no USDA national base hog price, but pork carcass cutout jumped $2.29 to $97.66, showing firmer demand for pork. Federally inspected hog slaughter reached 485,000 head, up 29,000 from a week ago and more than 16,000 over last year. The CME Lean Hog Index dropped 23 cents to $91.55 for June 25. Some primal cuts saw gains, but the butt cut posted the only decline, traders said.
