Air China cashes out $170 million Cathay Pacific stake as a Qatar buyback reshapes the shareholder map

Air China is selling 108.1 million shares in Cathay Pacific for HK$1.32 billion ($170 million), cutting its stake to just under 30% after a planned buyback. Swire Pacific’s holding will rise to about 47.65%. The sale price is HK$12.22 per share, with completion expected by Jan. 8. Filings show the deal depends on takeover-rule waivers and regulatory approvals.

Cathay Pacific’s Aria Suite Business Class Is Coming to San Francisco in 2026: Dates, Routes, and What Travellers Need to Know

Cathay Pacific will launch its Aria Suite business class on the Hong Kong–San Francisco route starting January 3, 2026, marking its first scheduled deployment to the U.S. The Aria-equipped Boeing 777-300ER will operate flights CX872/873 three times weekly. The service offers a full suite door and private seating. Passengers are advised to check aircraft assignments close to departure.
