IT Crash at Alaska Airlines: All Flights Grounded, Hundreds Canceled
A data center hardware failure grounded all Alaska and Horizon Air flights nationwide from about 3:30 pm PT Oct. 23 until late evening. Over 250 flights were canceled and hundreds more delayed. Alaska Air Group said safety was not compromised and ruled out a cyberattack. The outage, its second major IT crash in 2025, triggered long airport lines and a 2.2% drop in Alaska’s share price.
