Silver price breaks $110 to a record as dollar slides on intervention talk and Fed focus

Silver jumped above $110 an ounce Monday, hitting a record as investors fled the dollar after Trump threatened a 100% tariff on Canada. Spot silver was last up 6.2% at $109.36 by 0841 GMT. The dollar index fell to a four-month low, while the yen rallied. Traders await the Federal Reserve’s policy decision Wednesday.

Ashtead shares closed Friday at 4,936p, up 1.09%, after the company bought 88,872 shares under its repurchase program. The group is set to shift its primary listing to New York on March 2, pending court approval, and will be removed from the FTSE UK index the same day. Ashtead paid a half-year dividend of 37.5 U.S. cents per share on Friday.
