Starlink operates over 6,700 satellites as of early 2025 and exceeded 4 million subscribers in more than 100 countries by late 2024. SpaceX began testing Direct-to-Cell satellites using T-Mobile spectrum, with voice and data planned for 2025. Amazon’s Kuiper launched 27 satellites in April 2025, aiming for 1,600 in orbit by July 2026. OneWeb merged with Eutelsat and had about 632 satellites active by late 2024.

Sugar Prices Surge on Rising Gasoline Costs and Export Supply Disruptions

The rise is driven by soaring gasoline prices, which boost ethanol prices and encourage more ethanol production over sugar at mills. Supply constraints worsened by the Strait of Hormuz closure have cut about 6% of global sugar trade, reducing refined sugar output. Despite forecasts of global sugar surpluses in 2025/26 and 2026/27 from multiple analysts and the International Sugar Organization, lower sugar production in Brazil and reduced Indian ethanol use may tighten supply. India, the world's second-largest sugar producer, recently increased export quotas, pressuring prices amid rising export volumes.
