Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose 0.3–0.4% to around 4,528 by mid-afternoon Thursday, tracking Wall Street gains after the US Federal Reserve cut rates by 0.25 percentage points. Q3 labour data showed total employment up by 25,100 and unemployment steady at 2.0%. Retrenchments edged higher but remain modest. Year-to-date, the STI is up nearly 20%.
