Bahrain’s First Solar Power Plant: 150MW Tender to Power 6,300 Homes & Slash 100,000t CO₂
Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority opened bidding for its first large-scale solar plant, a 150 MW PV project in Bilaj Al Jazayer, on October 16, 2025. The plant will cover 1.2 km², supply power for about 6,300 homes, and cut 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ yearly. Bids are due by December 28, with commercial operation targeted for Q3 2027. The project will more than double Bahrain’s current solar capacity.
