Toronto Stock Exchange today: TSX ends 2025 lower, but posts best annual gain since 2009
Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index closed 2025 down 0.4% at 31,712.76, weighed by mining shares as metal prices slipped. Despite the drop, the TSX posted its strongest annual gain since 2009. Markets are closed Thursday for New Year’s Day and reopen Friday. Investors now await early-January economic data and the Bank of Canada’s Jan. 28 rate decision.
