NEW YORK, August 20, 2026, 16:45 EDT — U.S. trading ended with markets closed.
- NANO Nuclear stock ended the session at $18.02, dropping 5.9%.
- Approximately 60% of the implied market value is backed by cash and investments.
- The outstanding value is approximately 453 times the annualized revenue for the quarter.
NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. NASDAQ:NNE dropped 5.9% on Thursday, closing at $18.02 as advanced-reactor stocks moved lower in tandem. The loss puts the company’s shares roughly 70% under their 52-week peak.
The selloff creates a clearer valuation benchmark. NANO disclosed around $580 million in cash, equivalents and short-term investments as of June 30. When excluding that reserve, the market continues to value its operating and development assets at approximately $388 million.
| Market and balance-sheet test | Value | Investor reading |
|---|---|---|
| Aug. 20 finish | $18.02 | Off 5.9% |
| Implied market cap | $968 million | 53.7 million shares × finish |
| Total cash and investments | About $580 million | Roughly 60% of market cap |
| Cash per share | About $10.80 | 60% of the share price |
| Enterprise value ex-cash | About $388 million | For development and operations |
The buffer is significant, primarily supported by financing activities. According to the company, financing contributed $411.5 million in the first nine fiscal months, while operations consumed $18.7 million. The bulk of funds came from a $378.5 million private placement.
Revenue is still minimal compared to the balance sheet. For the fiscal third quarter, revenue totaled $214,040. If annualized, this amounts to approximately $856,000. Consequently, the post-cash value stands at nearly 453 times that annualized rate.
| Revenue bridge | Reported or calculated value | Multiple |
|---|---|---|
| Fiscal Q3 revenue | $214,040 | — |
| Annualized Q3 revenue | $856,160 | — |
| Implied equity value | $968 million | Roughly 1,130 times annualized revenue |
| Value after cash | $388 million | Roughly 453 times annualized revenue |
| Fiscal Q3 operating loss | $15.8 million | Roughly 74 times quarterly revenue |
NANO is not entirely pre-revenue anymore. The company acquired STS Nuclear, a business that posted audited revenue of $7.1 million and net income of $1.3 million for 2025. Factoring in this new revenue, the enterprise’s post-cash value is equivalent to roughly 55 times sales.
Thursday’s drop extended beyond a single firm. Oklo Inc. NYSE:OKLO slipped 4.2%, while NuScale Power Corporation NYSE:SMR retreated 4.3%. Despite holding a higher percentage of cash, NANO posted an even steeper loss.
| Advanced-reactor peer | Aug. 20 close | Daily move | 52-week high |
|---|---|---|---|
| NANO Nuclear NASDAQ:NNE | $18.02 | fell 5.9% | $60.87 |
| Oklo NYSE:OKLO | $41.15 | dropped 4.2% | $193.84 |
| NuScale Power NYSE:SMR | $8.89 | lost 4.3% | $57.42 |
Valuations in the sector reflect delayed commercial cash flow. According to the Financial Times, short sellers made around $2.1 billion in profits over the past year by targeting NANO, Oklo, and NuScale. The combined market capitalization of these firms has fallen by roughly $30.3 billion from their highest points.
NANO introduced a supply-chain trigger on Tuesday, announcing it had entered a nonbinding memorandum with Quadrant Nuclear Industries to evaluate potential long-term agreements for high-assay low-enriched uranium procurement. Quadrant’s proposed Idaho site targets an annual HALEU production capacity of 18 metric tons.
Chief Executive James Walker stated that “Access to reliable, domestically produced HALEU will be a key element” for the development of advanced nuclear. The statement noted there is no certainty a binding deal will be reached. NANO Nuclear and Quadrant announcement
The fuel supply shortfall is significant. U.S. demand may climb to 50 metric tons annually by 2035, yet present domestic production stands near one metric ton. This highlights the importance of securing supply, although a nonbinding agreement does not guarantee volume or price.

Analysts maintain a positive outlook. Out of six existing recommendations, four are rated as Buys and two as Holds. The consensus price target stands at $41.75. However, these targets rely on anticipated progress not yet reflected in quarterly revenue.

Risks: Delays in licensing, fuel shortages and additional share issues may reduce the company’s cash buffer. Ongoing losses continue, and there is no guarantee that Tuesday’s MOU will convert into a supply deal.
Investors are set for a straightforward week. Friday’s session will indicate if $18 acts as support. Tangible fuel agreements or licensing advances would outweigh another memorandum. For now, the $388 million post-cash stub is still an execution risk.
