Oxford Nanopore drops 16% after missing H1 revenue targets
July 13, 2026, 5:26 AM EDT. Oxford Nanopore Technologies shares fell 16% as the company reported first-half revenue of £116.5 million, missing its own forecast. Sales dropped 16% in China on export controls and fell 14% in the Middle East as geopolitical issues hit demand. Stripping out China and the Middle East, revenue rose roughly 16% at constant currency. Guidance stays at 21-25% growth for the year, but that depends on more second-half collaboration and licensing income. Oxford still aims to hit adjusted earnings breakeven by fiscal 2027. Micron (MU) Holds Flat as Price Swings Despite $22B in Orders
July 13, 2026, 5:25 AM EDT. Micron Technology (MU) isn’t moving much after that monster 711% rally this year, ending Tuesday at $979.30. The stock sits just above its daily pivot at $977.14. Traders say momentum has stalled, but there’s still $22 billion in customer commitments and a $100 billion backlog in play, so the big picture stays bullish. Daily charts put RSI at a neutral 49.12, and MACD has lost steam, but MU is stuck under its 20-day average while easily topping its 50- and 200-day marks-no sign of a real breakdown. Volatility is still wild, with the average true range close to $98. Watch support at $956 and resistance at $1,011. Hourly charts peg sellers near $1,000, so choppy action could stick around.

ASX 200 Dips Into Gains as Most Shares Fall, Oil Jumps on Hormuz Strain

July 13, 2026, 5:23 AM EDT. The S&P/ASX 200 eked out a 0.028% gain to 8,808.5 Monday, even as decliners (678) beat out gainers (405). The index stayed positive mainly thanks to heavyweights in banks, energy, and telcos holding the line. Brent crude shot up 4.3% to $79.31 after reports of U.S.-Iran clashes and Iran saying it shut the Strait of Hormuz. Bond yields and the dollar both climbed. There were some deals in gold stocks, but tech and gold miners slid. Analysts flagged fatigue and uncertainty with geopolitical risks still in the mix. Market attention turns to U.S. inflation data and China numbers this week, which could test the big banks and energy names. The ASX 200 VIX volatility index added 6.5% to 11.12, a sign of rising nerves.

AT&T NYSE:T Drone Test Grabs Spotlight as 5/3-Comerica Merger Skews Stock Alert

July 13, 2026, 5:19 AM EDT. That 186% jump in Fifth Third Bancorp’s AT&T stake came from the Comerica merger, not fresh buying. Actual holdings dipped 0.6% in Q1. On the tech side, AT&T and Ericsson ran a live drone detection demo at AT&T Stadium, using standard cellular networks for real-time tracking without new sensors, tapping ISAC. Executives called it a step for the 6G roadmap. No word yet on a rollout. For investors, that test is likely more important than the stock-holding headline.

Dollar dips after Iran news; yen hits 40-year low on pension fund signal
July 13, 2026, 5:18 AM EDT. The U.S. dollar slipped Monday as traders weighed fresh missile strikes involving U.S. and Iranian forces around the Gulf and Iran’s resealing of the Strait of Hormuz. Oil moved up, with Brent crude rising 3% to $78.50 a barrel, giving the dollar a short boost before it pulled back. The dollar index fell 0.2% to 100.83. Analysts say the dollar isn’t responding as forcefully as in past crises, with markets factoring in recent Federal Reserve rate hike bets. The Japanese yen tumbled to its weakest in four decades at 162.05 per dollar, after reports Japan will keep pension fund allocations steady, pushing back on earlier talk of more domestic investment. Traders are watching for any move from Tokyo to step in on the currency.

July 13, 2026, 5:17 AM EDT. Nasdaq-100 futures dropped 1.25% Monday, underperforming S&P 500 and Dow futures as Brent crude climbed past $79 a barrel on U.S.-Iran worries. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co posted a 67.9% revenue surge for June, but tech names stayed in the red. Bond yields moved higher, with the two-year Treasury yield hitting its highest since early 2025. Traders see a 50.9% chance of at least two more Fed rate hikes by year-end, according to FedWatch. Strong earnings from some S&P 500 companies weren’t enough to ease concern over tech cash flow and broader economic fallout, leaving investors on edge before big bank results this week.

Europe Stuck With Jet-Fuel Shortage as Stocks Dip, U.S. and APAC Still Have Surplus

July 13, 2026, 5:16 AM EDT.European shares slipped 0.2% on July 13, with travel and leisure names like Deutsche Lufthansa and Air France-KLM dragging down the sector. Europe is dealing with a jet-fuel deficit near 600,000 barrels per day (bpd) this quarter, exceeding the combined surplus from the U.S. (116,000 bpd) and Asia-Pacific (425,000 bpd). That leads to a net gap of about 59,000 bpd before any logistical constraints. Jet fuel stocks in Europe now cover less than 30 days of demand. Brent crude added 4.3% to $79.31 a barrel as Strait of Hormuz risks persisted. Energy stocks moved up, but tech names slipped, as fuel and rates stayed in focus. Airlines say hedging covers 80% of their fuel, but actual supply shortfalls remain. Supply sources in Europe are still in flux.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max Could See $200 Price Jump on Rising Component Costs

July 13, 2026, 5:15 AM EDT. Apple Inc. is looking at a possible $200 price hike for the iPhone 18 Pro Max as production costs climb, mostly from more expensive memory parts like NAND flash. Counterpoint Research says the bill of materials for the 12GB, 1TB version may go up by almost $300, which would put more pressure on margins even with a higher retail price. Last quarter, Apple’s iPhone sales hit $56.99 billion, lifted by solid demand for the higher-end Pro models. Pricing for the next launch in September could go higher for big-storage phones, and Apple might widen the price gap between storage tiers. Component supply challenges and moves from rivals such as Samsung and Google are factors in Apple’s pricing plans.

Toyota to Spend $3.6B Adding 150,000 Tacoma Units in San Antonio at $24,000 Cost Per Truck

July 13, 2026, 5:14 AM EDT. Toyota Motor is putting $3.6 billion into expanding its San Antonio plant to add 150,000 more Tacoma units per year, at a designed output cost of $24,000 per unit. The new line opens in 2030 and will cover about 52% of U.S. Tacoma sales. Mexico will remain key to Tacoma supply. The move comes after Toyota North America posted a $1.9 billion tariff loss, but the company says tariffs did not drive the decision-it’s part of a longer-term manufacturing plan. Public incentives will pick up 8.4% of costs, including $186 million in tax breaks. CEO Ted Ogawa pointed to Texas’s workforce and innovation as reasons for the project, which will consolidate Toyota’s truck operations in the state.

The main miss was due to a delay in counting a $400 million missile system contract for Kuwait with Raytheon. Adjusted numbers matched estimates. The Norwegian defense group, which has ramped up production as European defense spending rises, is trying to triple revenue by 2029 and go four times higher by 2033. CEO Eirik Lie said demand is growing in undersea and space security. Big backlogs and what the company calls strong market momentum are supporting the targets.

Amerigo Resources (TSX:ARG) Sets Special Dividend; Questions on Payouts and Strategy
July 13, 2026, 5:00 AM EDT. Amerigo Resources (TSX:ARG) said it will pay a special cash dividend of C$0.18 a share on August 6, 2026, to holders as of July 13, 2026. That’s on top of its regular dividends and share buybacks. Management keeps focusing on capital returns, pointing to solid earnings and strong ROE. Investors are watching cash flow and cost control from the copper miner. The new special dividend brings up questions about the sustainability of payouts and how much room Amerigo has in its balance sheet as it deals with shifting commodity prices and output goals. Valuations right now put the stock around 20% below fair value, with estimates from C$7.00 to C$8.75, showing the split in market views on Amerigo’s cash strength and capital moves.

Midterm Cycle Patterns Point to Potential 2026 S&P 500 Pullback
July 13, 2026, 4:54 AM EDT. The S&P 500 is up 11% in 2026, but historical trends show the U.S. market often struggles around midterm elections. Since 1957, the index has seen an average intra-year drop of 18% in midterm election years, with a 70% shot at a correction and a 35% probability it will slip into bear market territory. Political uncertainty is the key reason, analysts say. The stretch after midterms usually brings a rebound, with the S&P 500 gaining 14% on average over the next six months. For 2026, analysts see S&P 500 earnings growing 24%, with AI investment driving much of that. Wall Street expects the index to rise 19% by mid-2027. Experts still warn against selling during volatility, saying market timing is tough.
