The turnaround is significant as Bitcoin posted its best week in over two years. MARA’s advance was close to that of the cryptocurrency but was unable to maintain Friday’s rally. High trading volumes indicate notable profit-taking rather than a gradual decline.

Bitcoin closed Friday at $78,335 after briefly surpassing $79,000 earlier in the session. The rally was fueled by ETF inflows, Treasury buyback plans, and moves in crypto legislation.

Bitcoin eased to $77,134 as of 09:41 EDT on Saturday, down 1.5% from its Friday close. The weekend session offers MARA shareholders a fresh benchmark ahead of the Nasdaq’s reopening on Monday.

The stock maintains significant exposure. As of June 30, MARA possessed 35,577 Bitcoin. Its energized mining capacity reached 70.3 exahashes per second, marking a 22% increase over the past year.

Not all of those holdings are liquid. MARA reported that 9,270 Bitcoin were either pledged or loaned out as of the end of the quarter. The company subsequently secured $600 million through Bitcoin-collateralized facilities to support its Long Ridge acquisition.

The company is targeting revenue from AI infrastructure. Its powered-land portfolio may expand to 4.8 gigawatts if approvals are granted. Management anticipates signing at least one customer lease prior to year-end.

There are two main tests in the coming week. Bitcoin needs to maintain its breakout as equities remain shut. When trading restarts, MARA must defend its Friday low at $11.02.

Risks: Bitcoin has the potential for rapid reversals, which may heighten MARA’s share price volatility. Coins pledged as collateral make the company more sensitive to financing conditions. AI lease agreements and energy projects still face uncertainties related to customers, required permits, financing and execution.

MARA’s weekly advance renewed its correlation with Bitcoin. A $466 million swing on Friday highlighted the cap. Investors are now looking for continued momentum from the token and progress on the infrastructure plan.
