Intel Shares Slip 2.8% Below $95 Offer Amid $20 Billion Foundry Gamble’s Initial Trial

SANTA CLARA, August 28, 2026, 18:00 (EDT). Intel’s stock declined 2.8%, trading under its $95 offering level, as the company’s $20 billion investment in its foundry business faces its first major test.

  • Intel ended the session at $89.47, falling 2.83%, with 85.9 million shares traded.
  • The stock closed 5.8% under its recent $95 equity offering price.
  • The $20 billion capital raise will support a foundry initiative requiring about $20 billion in capital expenditures in 2026.

Intel stock dropped 2.83% on Friday, as investors reduced positions in chipmakers tied to AI. The fall wiped out approximately $13.3 billion from Intel’s market capitalisation.

The stock fell to $89.47, dipping beneath this month’s $95 offering price. The development serves as an early market test for Intel’s notably large capital raising effort.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) secured $20 billion through a share sale priced at $95. The transaction was upsized from the originally planned $15 billion Reuters.

The funds will aid in financing expensive manufacturing growth. Intel anticipates capital expenditures of roughly $20 billion this year. The company’s foundry plan targets high-volume manufacturing using the 14A process in 2028.

Friday saw broader declines beyond Intel, with Marvell tumbling 10.39% as investors raised concerns about its Google-chip financials. Nvidia closed down 4.59%, and AMD slipped 2.34%.

Intel slid 2.83%, a smaller fall compared to Marvell’s and Nvidia’s drops. However, the decline pushed the stock below the level that new investors and Chief Executive Lip-Bu Tan paid.

Tan acquired 105,263 shares at $95 each this month, totaling roughly $10 million. The transaction brings management interests in line with the financing amount, though it does not guarantee that price filing-based report.

Foundry investment has produced clear results. Intel’s Fab 52 in Arizona represents a portion of over $100 billion set aside for U.S. growth Intel media kit.

Wall Street remains wary. Of 31 analysts surveyed, five rated the stock as a Buy, while 24 assigned a Hold and two recommended Sell. The average price target was $116.84, representing a 31% premium to Friday’s closing price analyst consensus.

The equation is simple. Every dollar raised eases immediate financing strain. However, each additional share dilutes any potential foundry recovery among more shareholders.

Risks: A large 14A client could confirm Intel’s investments and boost utilization. Setbacks, softer chip demand or additional dilution would raise the price of the turnaround.
