  • A $1 move in HYPE changes gross treasury value by roughly $29.3 million.
  • Fiscal net income relied mainly on unrealized token gains.

Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. NASDAQ:PURR lost 9.51% Friday as investors marked down a fast-growing digital-asset treasury after earnings. The drop followed an 11% gain on Thursday.

Stock chart for NASDAQ:HYPD

The stock now offers an unusually direct wager on HYPE. At Sunday’s $82.60 token price, its 29.28 million tokens were worth about $2.42 billion. That slightly exceeds PURR’s roughly $2.35 billion basic market value.

The comparison is not a liquidation calculation. Cash, deferred taxes, liabilities, warrants and future share issuance all affect value. Still, it explains why a 24-hour token trades around a weekday-listed stock.

The company more than doubled its treasury from 12.5 million tokens. It deployed $773.4 million for 16.5 million HYPE at an average $46.77 price. It also retained $132.6 million of cash on August 19 SEC-filed results.

That capital came with dilution. Hyperliquid Strategies raised $646.6 million through an equity facility at an average $8.70 share price. Its presentation says 76.1 million shares were issued during the fiscal year company presentation.

The balance sheet produced $305.5 million of fiscal net income. Yet $709.9 million came from unrealized HYPE gains. Those gains were partly offset by a $169.2 million one-time token loss and $183.5 million of deferred tax expense.

Recurring earnings remain smaller. Staking and validator revenue totaled $9.5 million for the year. Interest income was $2.7 million, while operating expenses reached $14.0 million.

The sensitivity is stark. Every $1 move in HYPE changes gross treasury value by about $29.3 million. A 10% token move at Sunday’s price equals roughly $242 million, or about 10% of PURR’s basic market value.

Management says substantially all tokens are staked. Its validator became the network’s third largest. The company also reported zero debt and $1.87 billion of stockholders’ equity at June 30.

Hyperliquid itself held 63% of decentralized perpetuals open interest on August 23, according to company-cited data. That concentration supports fee generation but ties PURR to one protocol’s trading activity and governance.

Analyst coverage remains too limited for a reliable consensus comparison. The cleaner valuation test is whether token exposure per diluted share rises after financing, buybacks and staking income.

Risks: HYPE trades continuously and can gap before PURR reopens. Token prices, regulation, custody, protocol security, deferred taxes and further equity issuance can quickly erase any apparent asset discount.
