Tanzania’s Internet Revolution: From 2G Villages to Starlink Skies
By December 2024, Tanzania recorded 48 million active internet subscriptions, a 16% rise from the previous quarter, driven by multi-device use. Mobile broadband subscriptions reached 25.6 million, while over 22 million users remained on 2G. 4G covered 88% of the population; 5G reached 20%. Smartphone penetration stood at 35.9%, with most users still on basic phones.
