OSASCO, Brazil, September 2, 2026, 16:29 (BRT)
- Bradesco ADRs were up 3.9% at $3.45 as of 15:29 EDT.
- The most recent delayed local quote rose by 2.2%, as the real advanced 0.8%.
- Shareholders must exercise their capital-increase rights by September 4.
Banco Bradesco S.A. NYSE:BBD American depositary receipts climbed 3.9% to $3.45 on Wednesday. The appreciation of the Brazilian real boosted gains in local shares when converted into dollars for investors.
The significance lies in Bradesco’s cross-listing, which passes on two risks. Investors gain exposure to the bank’s turnaround and also to fluctuations in the real against the dollar.
Brazilian assets saw widespread gains throughout the session. The real appreciated, buoyed by equity inflows that supported both the Ibovespa and domestic banking stocks.

Capital increase: the terms investors face

The preferred subscription price is just 0.7% under Wednesday’s R$17.77 quotation, offering minimal margin for a straightforward discount trade.
The core challenge is in deployment. New capital needs to generate sufficient returns to safeguard performance once the additional shares are issued.
Recovery is producing profit, with credit costs still visible
Second quarter of 2026; year-on-year changes unless noted
Source: Banco Bradesco second-quarter 2026 results filed with the U.S. SEC.
Recurring profit for the second quarter increased by 16.2% to R$7.05 billion. The recurring return on average equity came in at 16.2%. Loans expanded by 11.6%.
Credit quality continues to offset gains. Loans overdue by more than 90 days rose to 4.3%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points year-on-year.
The ADR movement on Wednesday reflects more than just a rebound in the currency. It also sets a higher threshold for a recovery that is already priced close to the favoured subscription level.
Risks: The ADR benefit may fade swiftly if the real depreciates. Increased delinquencies or inefficient use of capital might also undermine the earnings rebound.
