Airbus CO3D: AI-Powered, Laser-Linked Constellation for 50 cm Global 3D Mapping
Four identical CO3D satellites are set for launch July 25, 2025, from Kourou on a Vega-C rocket, aiming to map 90% of Earth’s land in 3D at ~1 m vertical accuracy within five years. The system uses synchronized stereo imaging, inter-satellite laser links, onboard AI processing, and low-light imaging. Ground processing will handle tens of terabytes daily. The mission includes the MicroCarb payload and LASIN laser demo.
