FTSE 100 up as BT gains; UK data tempers mood
FTSE 100 rose 0.37% to 10,481.88 in early London trade Friday, while the FTSE 250 gained 0.52%. Retail sales dropped 1.3% in April, the steepest monthly fall in nearly a year. Public sector borrowing reached £24.3 billion, exceeding forecasts. Gains in BT, Compass, and 3i led the market.
