Shares of GFL Environmental Inc. climbed 7.56% to C$57.17 on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) after reports surfaced that the waste management company is weighing a take-private deal. With the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) closed Friday for Independence Day, price updates for GFL tracked only off the TSX. Based on TSX trading, GFL's valuation saw a C$1 billion premium over its last NYSE price. Volume hit 938,410 shares, about 36% higher than average. CEO Patrick Dovigi wouldn't comment on the Bloomberg article mentioning early talks. The company flagged upcoming dividend and earnings dates and pointed to its Russell 1000 and 3000 index additions, after shifting its HQ to Florida.
