State of Internet Access in Armenia: From Fiber to the Final Frontier

Starlink satellite internet launched in Armenia in March 2025, making it the 130th country with access. As of early 2024, fiber made up over 83% of fixed broadband connections. The government acquired a 20% stake in Viva in 2024. By 2023, about 77% of the population used the internet, and all settlements had 4G/LTE coverage by 2021.

Internet Access in Kiribati: Bridging the Digital Divide Across Remote Pacific Islands

About 73,300 people in Kiribati used the internet as of January 2024, covering 54.4% of the population. The country relies entirely on satellite links for connectivity, with no submarine fiber cable in place. The East Micronesia Cable System is under construction and expected to connect Tarawa to Guam by 2025. Starlink has around 1,500 user terminals in South Tarawa, though not yet officially licensed.

Internet Access in Niger: Broadband, Mobile, and Satellite Overview

About 6.37 million people in Niger were online in early 2025, up from 4.7 million a year earlier. Mobile networks supplied most access, with 16.5 million cellular connections—mainly 2G. Starlink received a five-year license in 2024, aiming for nationwide coverage. The Trans-Saharan Dorsal fiber optic network was completed, linking Niger to international cables.
