Danaher (NYSE:DHR) stock drops 14% as bioprocessing gap clouds outlook

U.S. cash markets were open. Delayed data showed Danaher down 13.9% at $173.09 after its quarterly report.

NEW YORK, July 21, 2026, 10:06 a.m. EDT

U.S. cash markets were open. Delayed data showed Danaher down 13.9% at $173.09 after its quarterly report.

The company cut its 2026 core-revenue growth range to 3%-4%. Its previous forecast called for growth of 3%-6%.

A preliminary estimate puts the equity-value loss near $20 billion. That is roughly twice the $9.9 billion transaction value for Masimo (formerly NASDAQ:MASI).

The guidance moved in opposite directions. The adjusted EPS midpoint rose 0.9%, while the core-growth midpoint fell one percentage point.

Quarterly headline numbers beat consensus, but biotechnology missed.

Second-quarter measureActualAnalyst consensusDifference
Revenue$6.27 billion$6.10 billion+2.8%
Adjusted EPS$1.94$1.83+6.0%
Biotechnology revenue$1.92 billion$1.97 billion-2.5%
Life Sciences revenue$1.88 billion$1.80 billion+4.4%

Bioprocessing orders grew at a mid-teens rate. Biotechnology core sales rose only 2.5%, leaving a wide order-to-revenue gap.

Chief Executive Rainer Blair said customer project timing delayed revenue. He said “underlying order trends remained strong.” SEC

That mismatch now sets the stock’s test. Orders must convert into sales before year-end.

Third-quarter core growth is forecast at 2%-3%. Excluding respiratory testing, management expects growth of about 5%.

RBC Capital Markets called the outlook “mixed and not consistent with a re-acceleration narrative.” Reuters

Delayed early-trading data showed a wide peer gap.

CompanyEarly share move
Danaher NYSE:DHR-13.9%
Thermo Fisher Scientific NYSE:TMO-2.5%
Agilent Technologies NYSE:A+2.1%
Revvity (NYSE:RVTY)+3.0%
Illumina NASDAQ:ILMN+2.3%

Danaher trailed the peer median by about 16 percentage points. That spread points to a company-specific repricing.

Life Sciences core sales rose 5.5%. Free cash flow increased 15.5% to $1.27 billion.

The main risk is timing. Faster project conversion could recover sales. Further delays or higher Masimo costs would pressure cash and margins.

The next proof point is third-quarter bioprocessing revenue. Until then, investors are pricing execution, not the earnings beat.
