NEW YORK, September 1, 2026, 14:29 EDT — XRP fell 2.2% on the day, with the decline coming despite Bitwise ETF’s total assets hitting $507 million.
- XRP was last changing hands at $1.355 at 14:23 EDT, falling 2.2% in the past 24 hours.
- On August 30, Bitwise’s XRP fund contained $507.23 million worth of the token.
- Ripple’s release of one billion tokens from escrow reflects availability, but does not represent a confirmed sale on the market.
XRP dropped 2.2% in the past 24 hours, trading at around $1.36 on Tuesday. Another pricing source showed the token at $1.355 as of 14:23 EDT. XRP had previously reached an overnight peak close to $1.395.
The drop highlights a significant imbalance in scale. Bitwise XRP ETF NYSEARCA:XRP has 365.35 million tokens, representing just 36.5% of the one-billion-token escrow release on Tuesday. This comparison reflects supply reserves, not direct market activity.

XRP declined by approximately 2.8% from its overnight high but outperformed ether and solana when compared to a common reference close. However, this relative resilience did not translate into a net increase.

Broader markets also declined. Bitcoin slipped 1.9% on the same measure. Ether declined 2.1%, and solana was down 3.0%. As a result, XRP’s shift appeared more as a move to cut risk rather than a unique divergence.
Investor appetite continues to be strong. Bitwise disclosed holding 365.35 million XRP in its trust as of August 30, with a market valuation of $507.23 million. The trust maintained 32.71 million shares and reported an expense ratio of 0.34%.

As of June 30, the trust reported holding 286.84 million tokens. Its net assets at that time totaled $299.15 million, its SEC filing showed. Token holdings grew by 27.4% by August 30. Dollar-denominated assets increased 69.6%, reflecting significant price gains.
Tuesday’s supply update requires caution. Ripple unlocked 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million XRP from scheduled escrows, bringing locked XRP to roughly 31.28 billion. Completion of an escrow unlocks tokens but does not confirm a sale or exchange movement.
The scale behind the supply headline

The gross release carried a value of approximately $1.36 billion based on the spot price at the time. This amount represented 1.6% of XRP’s circulating supply of 62.74 billion. According to CoinGecko, the market capitalization was reported at $85.0 billion, with the fully diluted valuation standing at $135.5 billion.
Technical analyst Ali Martinez stated that XRP has “cleared resistance” and identified $1.70 as a target price. To hit that level, the token requires a 25% rise from $1.355. The pullback on Tuesday demonstrates that price direction is not determined solely by fund growth. Martinez’s analysis
Risks: Cryptocurrency prices fluctuate at all times and can shift significantly. ETF assets reflect both share issuance and changes in token value. The net re-escrow figure for September was pending independent verification.
The following evidence is tangible. Investors should monitor fresh escrow transactions, changes in fund holdings, and observe if $1.30 to $1.35 remains stable. A break above $1.50 would signal a more robust rebound. For now, institutional access is expanding more rapidly than price confidence.
