Job openings in July increased to 7.27 million, falling short of the 7.3 million forecast in a Reuters poll. The data had minimal impact on ongoing worries about inflation driven by oil.
Ryan Isherwood at Significance Capital commented that it was the right moment to “trim the winners and position a little bit more defensively.” The Associated Press reported that rising oil prices are adding to inflationary concerns.
