IREN Limited (NASDAQ:IREN) climbs further after AI prepayments reduce concerns about GPU funding

NEW YORK, July 21, 2026, 04:09 EDT

Shares of IREN were last up 5.7% at $42.48 as of 4:06 a.m. EDT. The stock had surged 19.6% on Monday to close at $40.20.

Premarket trading in the U.S. was underway at the dateline. The main session is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

The surge came after $2.8 billion worth of fresh multiyear AI cloud contracts were announced. IREN lifted its target for year-end 2026 annualized run-rate revenue (ARR) to more than $4 billion, up from its earlier goal of $3.7 billion.

The primary indicator for investors was the arrangement of funding. In recent contracts, customer prepayments account for approximately 45% of the associated GPU capital expenditure. This lessens IREN’s initial funding obligation.

Early estimates indicate contracted ARR exceeds $3.4 billion, based on IREN’s 85% disclosure and the $4 billion minimum.

ARR does not represent recognized revenue. IREN determines ARR based on projected GPU prices and anticipated annual usage hours. Revenue is only recognized following commissioning, testing, and customer sign-off.

IREN dropped 18.3% over the week ending July 17. An initial estimate shows Tuesday’s opening price is 3.3% higher than where it closed on July 10.

On Monday, turnover totaled 93.3 million shares, roughly 2.4 times the daily average from the previous week based on preliminary estimates.

The action also outperformed key AI-infrastructure competitors.

CoreWeave Inc. $73.06down 0.2%

Hut 8 rose after securing a $9.8 billion lease. The 15-year deal includes 352 megawatts at its Texas facility.

The disparity in performance indicates investors paid attention to IREN’s funding conditions. This interpretation is based on pricing and the revealed prepayments.

IREN initially established itself in bitcoin mining, later diversifying into AI cloud offerings. The company’s clients now feature Microsoft Corp. , NVIDIA Corp. as well as multiple private AI firms. Its portfolio contracts carry a weighted average duration of almost four years.

Co-CEO Daniel Roberts said, “Our vertically integrated AI Cloud platform is scaling at pace.” IREN forecasts 480 megawatts in the current year, aiming for 1.2 gigawatts by 2027. GlobeNewswire

IREN said its preliminary, unaudited cash balance stood at $7.6 billion as of June 30, with $1.7 billion of that amount in restricted cash.

Risks persist. Achievement of the target is contingent on deployment timing, usage, pricing structures and customer uptake. Comparable prepayment arrangements might not happen again.

Investors this week look to see if premarket advances hold during the main session. Alphabet Inc. is due to announce second-quarter earnings on Wednesday. Market participants will focus on updates concerning cloud operations and capital expenditures.

For IREN, the next major hurdle is delivery. Signed contracts enhance visibility, while finalized GPU clusters translate that visibility into actual reported revenue.
