UiPath (NYSE:PATH) Shares Climb 3.5% in the Week as Investors Assess Buyback Calculations

NEW YORK, July 21, 2026, 06:14 EDT

  • Shares gained 3.49% over the past week and were indicated at $12.16 ahead of Tuesday’s opening.
  • Calculated figures show net share-count reduction together with an increase in holdings by a single passive investor amounted to 4.9% of May’s Class A shares.
  • ServiceNow is set to release results on July 22, providing the week’s primary automation-sector update.

UiPath Inc. advanced 3.49% during the past week. Shares were indicated at $12.16 ahead of Tuesday’s market open. U.S. core trading was still closed at the dateline.

The development followed disclosures indicating two significant contributors to share demand. UiPath’s Class A shares decreased by 16.58 million in the first quarter. Meanwhile, a consortium headed by Tetragon Financial Group (AMS:TFG) subsequently increased its stake by 5.45 million shares.

The combined total amounts to 22.03 million shares, equaling 4.9% of the Class A tally as of May 29. This figure measures demand, not the free float. The periods under review overlap to some extent, and shares bought remain issued.

The point is significant. UiPath’s investor webpage listed no company statements beyond June 16. As a result, the filings redirect investor attention to demand for shares.

UiPath outperformed its key competitors. Appian Corp. gained 1.77% during the week, while ServiceNow Inc. declined by 4.38%.

The comparison in the filing highlights the magnitude.

Calculations are based on company and SEC filings. The group led by Tetragon stated the stake as passive.

During the first quarter, UiPath bought back 20.4 million shares at an average price of $11.47. Net Class A shares decreased by around 81% of total repurchases, with the remaining amount offset by employee issuances and other changes.

Initial estimate: Taking into account only revealed May buys, about $413.8 million remained available as of May 15. At a price of $12.16, this could purchase 34.0 million shares, equal to 7.5% of the Class A total on May 29. Additional acquisitions would decrease that available amount.

Spending outpaced cash generation. UiPath allocated $243.8 million to repurchases in Q1, equivalent to 1.9 times its adjusted free cash flow. The company held $1.42 billion in cash and marketable securities.

The operating base showed gains. Revenue for Q1 climbed 17% to $418 million. Annual recurring revenue was up 12% to $1.901 billion. GAAP operating income totaled $28 million.

Chief Executive Daniel Dines stated in May that agentic products are “moving from pilot to production.” The dollar-based net retention rate stood at 109%. UiPath, Inc.

UiPath projected Q2 revenue in the range of $395 million to $400 million, with the midpoint roughly 5% lower compared to Q1, according to calculations. The company expects ARR to be between $1.929 billion and $1.934 billion as of July 31.

This week offers a straightforward peer comparison as ServiceNow is set to report its second-quarter earnings after markets close on Wednesday. The company’s report is expected to provide investors with further insight into trends in enterprise automation and AI expenditures.

Risks: Companies can halt buybacks at their discretion. In Q1, share repurchases represented 1.9 times adjusted free cash flow. Q2 revenue guidance points to a sequential drop of 5%.

Currently, indications suggest supply-side backing. Ongoing advances will depend on ARR growth.
